What would you do for Free?

If you have ever asked me for career advice, then this has undoubtedly been the first question I would ask you. It’s a simple thought, but it holds a lot of value if you think about it. Many people do not work in fields that they give 2 poops about (talk less of ones that they are desperately trying to improve), and in a way this is slowing us all down. I say "work on stuff you want to work on" and hopefully, by the end of this article, you will agree.
Some of you may be thinking that you can't make money in your dream field and function, and that is simply not true.
We currently live in a time when career variety is at its peak because we all believe that we can have nearly everything that we want exactly the way that we want it. This new found flexibility has empowered people to pursue career areas that older generations didn’t have the luxury of having. This is a gift, so let’s take advantage of this newly realized level of freedom.
Here is an interesting thought : If you get good enough at ANYTHING, SOMEONE will pay you for it.
There are an incredible number of professions that people are able to do, so why allow yourself to get stuck doing the one that you dislike?
Seriously, if you like building treehouses become a professional Tree-House Builder; if you like sitting on couches all day be a professional Furniture Tester; if you just want to smell the wonders of the world be an Oder judge. (PLEASE LOOK THESE THINGS UP! They are real careers, and a simple search could make opportunities like these equally relevant to you.)
Now, I never said that they will pay you a lot for what you want to do, but generally speaking, the better you are at a job the more you get paid. This is no different. If you are willing to do it for free then you will most likely get good at it, and more importantly, you won’t think of it as work because you would be enjoying yourself.
We will always need people to do things like Accounting, Nursing, and Political Advocacy, but instead of dragging yourself to work every day I say we should leave those jobs to the people who want to do them. I was surprised too to find out that these people actually exist but it is true, and honestly, they will most likely do a better job because they actually want to be there. If you think you could be the best Rock-Paper-Scissor champ out there (and again, this, as a matter of fact, does also exist as a career) then pursue your passion, and leave the boring stuff to someone who doesn’t think it all that boring.
Just another one of #ToyesThoughts
